Chapter 5

Sunday, October 28

When Trevor showed up with a latte and a scone the next morning, I had to laugh. “After our late night, I wasn’t expecting you today. You must really want those dance lessons.”

“Oh, I do. I’ve thought about it and I’m all in. I want to learn the waltz, the rumba, the foxtrot, and let’s not forget the most sensual dance of all, the tango.”

I took a sip of my latte. “We’ll start with a waltz and see how it goes. Right now, however, I need to take Tucker and Sunny out for their morning walk. Want to come with us?”

“Sure.”

“We’ll bring the lattes and leave the scones for when we get back.”

“If you don’t want Mac to eat the scones, you might want to hide them,” Trevor warned. “I brought a half dozen, but you know what a sweet tooth she has.”

I glanced toward the stairs. “I have a feeling Mac and Ty might not be up for a while yet. If I had to guess, I’d say their night was only getting started when we got home.”

Trevor glanced toward the stairs as well. “Really? Good for Mac. It’s about time she found herself a guy who’s worthy of her affection. I hope this will be the beginning of something awesome.”

I called to the dogs and we all headed to the front door. “I really like Ty, and he seems to adore Mac. And they have a lot in common with all that computer stuff. I think they could have a real future together. Of course, I’m enjoying having her as a roommate, so I’m not quite ready for Ty to steal her out from under me. By the way, speaking of things that are stolen, I’m sorry Brooklyn decided to go home with the football coach.”

Trevor shrugged. “I was fine with it. It was never really a date. I only invited her because you wanted me to invite someone and she came to mind.”

“The evening didn’t go exactly as I’d planned, but I had a good time, and I think Chelsea made a ton of money for the hospital.”

“She told me that they almost doubled their goal amount. Seems like everyone was in a giving mood. I bought some thingamabob for a ridiculous amount of money.”

“A thingamabob?”

“I’m not sure what it is. You might hang it on a wall. Or set it on a desk. It might even be for a bathroom.”

I laughed. “You paid a lot of money for something you don’t even know what to do with?”

“Had to. Chelsea grabbed me when I went to get us some wine. She told me to bid on something, so I bid on the thing nearest to me at the time. Apparently, my bid was crazy high, but the money went to a good cause, so I’m fine with it. How about you? Did you buy anything?”

“I did. Although unlike you, I know what I bought and am very happy with my purchases. Oh look.” I pointed.
